The Law Tigers, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association NM 47-4 (CVMA 47-4) and Operation Phoenix Outdoors come together to support the health of veterans, first responders and military members during the 9/11 Memorial Run motorcycle event Sept. 9th in Alamogordo, N.M.
The ride begins at 9 a.m. at Liberty Cycles, located at 649 Hwy 70 W in Alamogordo, with kickstands up at 10 a.m. The 9/11 Memorial Run benefits Operation Phoenix Outdoors, a non-profit organization that uses outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting to help the mental health of veterans, first responders, military members, and their families. Operation Phoenix wants to combat the approximately 22 veteran suicides that occur daily in the United States by encouraging participation in outdoor activities. The mission statement of the group outlines the benefits of Operation Phoenix:
“Our hope is that we help ease the transition from military to civilian life, reduce stress, reconnect families and build friendships/healthy relationships to reduce the number of veteran suicides, alcohol dependency and broken families.”
Cost is $20 per rider/$10 per passenger to participate in the event; other vehicles may also participate for $10 per person. There will be a food truck from Triple Nickle BBQ at the event, as well as a full bar, live DJ, door prizes, and raffles. The event ends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 471 24th St, Alamogordo, N.M.
