What Is San Diego Toys for Tots?
Toys for Tots is a nationwide program organized by the U.S. Marine Corps. Chapters throughout the U.S. raise money and collect toys to be distributed to children whose parents cannot afford Christmas gifts.
The San Diego Toys for Tots event happens annually and is usually the region’s largest Toys for Tots event. The El Cajon Harley-Davidson sponsors this event and partners with other local organizations, such as the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
In 2021, the event raised a record $42,929 and collected 3,683 toys. Event organizers expect the 2022 event to break this record and be the largest Toys for Tots event in San Diego history.
One hundred percent of the monetary contributions and donations from the Toys for Tots event go directly to the official Toys for Tots program through the U.S. Marine Corps. The Marine Corps then uses the donations to purchase toys for families in need.
