March is arguably one of the best times of year to ride in Arizona. The thermometer begins to rise, replacing brisk winter air with mild temperatures and blue, sunny skies.
If you love to ride and meet other like-minded bikers, reserve a Saturday in March to participate in the ALR Brian Mancini Memorial Legacy Ride, which also happens to be a poker run.
Brian Mancini Memorial Ride Event Details
Just 20 miles west of Phoenix, Avondale boasts a rich collection of tourist destinations and fun outings for the whole family. On Saturday March 11, however, the best thing to do in Avondale is to participate in the ALR Brian Mancini Memorial Legacy Ride.
Riders gather here at 7am:
American Legion Post 61
35 N Dysart Rd
Avondale, AZ
85323
This ride is a poker run, and if you’re not familiar with how poker runs work, here’s a brief overview:
Riders visit five checkpoints and collect a card. After collecting all five cards from the checkpoints, you’ll have a poker hand, and there are winners for both the highest and the lowest hands. To participate, each rider pays $20 and $5 per passenger. If you don’t have a bike, cars and trucks are welcome, too.
Stops along this ride include Hurricane Grill & Wings and Roadrunner Harley-Davidson in Goodyear. The ride shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours, but stay for the scheduled 6-hour event to connect with other riders and participate in the festivities.
There will also be live music, raffle items, and savory food and drink.
