The Goliad-Beeville Loop
With a mix of hills, towns, and cities, this route has something for bikers of all tastes. This 160-mile loop should take about 3 hours with light traffic and no stops, or you can plan a day on the road to visit some of the local attractions, grab lunch and dinner, and stop for photos in the more picturesque areas.
Take FM 136 N and FM 2678 N to Refugio. Ride along Alamo Street through town to merge onto US 183 N toward Goliad. In Goliad, take a left at US 59 S (E. Pearl Street). Follow it for 29 miles to Beeville. Make a left on S. Washington St. and follow the signs for US 181 from US 181 BUS. Take 181 through Skidmore and back to Corpus Christi.
The Tivoli-Goliad Loop
Take TX 35 N to Tivoli, then take TX 239 W to US 183. You can turn right to hit Goliad for lunch or continue your trip non-stop by heading south on US 183 S. Drive through Refugio to get to FM 2678 S, then merge onto FM 136 S. Merge onto TX 35 S to head back to Corpus Christi.
At about the midway point just south of Goliad, you can stretch your legs at the Presidio-La Bahia Spanish fort or grab a bite in town. Be aware that if you want to eat locally, many restaurants in Goliad are open for breakfast and lunch only, with only a few options for dinner. Otherwise, you can find chains like Subway, Whataburger, and Dairy Queen.
Beeville and George West to Three Rivers
This route features a variety of interstate straightaways and curving rural highways through towns of different sizes. Stop In Three Rivers or George West for classic Tex Mex or lunch at one of several steakhouses.
Enjoy this figure-8 loop up I-37 to TX 359 to Skidmore, then up US 181 to Beeville, and left around the loop at FM 351. Turn left onto US 59 S to George West, then turn right onto US 281 to Three Rivers. From Three Rivers, take I-37 south back to Corpus Christi.
Violet to Freer Loop
Enjoy rustic countryside views, small towns, and adrenaline-pumping blind curves on this loop for experienced riders. Watch for sudden turns in weather that can make conditions dangerous, and come prepared with sunblock, poncho, and skid-pads.
Take TX 44 W to US 77 S, then FM 665 W. Turn left onto FM 1930, then merge right onto US 281 N. Take the exit for TX 44 and turn left toward Freer. Turn right onto US 59 N. Make a right on FM 624 E, driving through Westdale. Turn south on I-69E in Calallen and head back to Violet.
