What’s Changing With the Motopia NM Expansion?
Formerly located in a 6,000-square-foot building on Carlisle Boulevard, Motopia New Mexico has gotten a massive upgrade. The plan is for Motopia NM to expand to a 17,000-square-foot space at 5201 Quail Road NW, allowing the dealership to scale up and offer a larger selection of bikes to the riders in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas.
Scott Cloninger, a seasoned road racer, technician, and half-owner of Motopia New Mexico, revealed that construction of the new dealership has a project length of around 90 days and should be done by late Spring. In January, the team was in the middle of demolition and preparing to submit plans to the city for review.
Despite the shortage of materials over the last few years due to supply chain issues, Cloninger maintains an optimistic view, saying the project hasn’t hit any snags as far as building materials go. While prices were higher and stock was limited last year, Cloninger mentions that things are starting to calm down, spelling good luck for Motopia’s expansion.
The part owner estimated that the new and improved Motopia New Mexico will be operational before summer and will have a grand opening in early June. With the added space and inventory, the Motopia employee crew is also expanding. The shop plans to hire a new sales associate, technician, and finance and insurance associate.
The new bikes you can find at Motopia after the expansion this summer include Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycles.
