Whether you live in Arkansas or plan to drive through, don’t miss planning a Push Mountain Road motorcycle ride. This 3.5-hour route offers curvy turns and swerves to delight riders who enjoy twists and turns.
The Sights
Enjoy riverside overlooks, forests, valleys, hills, lakes, historic buildings, farms, and more on your ride and when you stop to enjoy the views.
Don’t miss seeing Bull Shoals Lake and White River at the Bull Shoals Dam.
The Route
Starting in Mountain View, take AR-66 W to Timbo. From there, turn right onto AR-263 N and follow it 12 miles. Turn left onto AR-14 NW and take it eight miles to Harriet.
Stay on AR-14 NW through Harriet to Yellville. At Yellville, take US-412E/US-62 E for five miles before turning left onto AR-178 SE. Follow 178 for seven miles, then turn right onto Rivercliff Drive to Bull Shoals Dam.
Take AR-178S to Midway, then turn right onto AR-5S to ride into Mountain Home. You’ll need to ride some city streets to get back to the highway, starting with a right onto Main Street. After half a mile, turn left onto W. 9th Street and follow it for 11 miles to Salesville.
Keep right to continue onto State Hwy 5 toward Norfork. Turn right onto AR-201N/AR-341S. Follow for a mile, then turn left onto AR-341S where it splits from 201.
Enjoy the 25-mile ride before turning left onto AR-14N toward Allison for the next 17 miles.
In Allison, turn right onto AR-5S/AR-9S/AR-14NE. Follow that final stretch five miles back to Mountain View.
An alternate route takes you through Norfork, Calico Rock, and Optimus before the final stretch from Allison to Mountain View.
The Attractions
Visit any of the several museums on the way to learn more about the history of Arkansas. Check out the Stoney County Museum in Mountain View, the Jacob Wolf House in Norfork, or the Bull Shoals White River State Park.
Mountain View and Mountain Home offer downtown window shopping and dining. You can find other attractions off the beaten path, like the Mirror Lake Waterfall off Blanchard Road if you detour from AR-14 N before reaching Allison.
The real attraction of a Push Mountain Road motorcycle ride is the winding and curving route along the way, which can make any biker hungry after a couple of hours on the road.
The Eats
Don’t miss out on some great dining options on this three-and-a-half-hour ride. Starting in Mountain View, grab a bite at Los Locos Mexican Restaurant for excellent enchiladas, fajitas, and grilled plates of chicken, carne asada, or seafood.
Stop at PJ’s Rainbow Café for breakfast, chicken fried steak, sandwiches, and a slice of pie. If you’re rolling into Mountain View around dinner time, stop by Tommy’s Famous A Pizzeria for a slice, a calzone, or barbecue.
When riding through Timbo, stop by Brad N Dad’s Drive-In for burgers, catfish, fries, milkshakes, and more before continuing to your next stop.
In Yellville, hang out at a biker-friendly place. Visit Blacksheep BBQ Smokehouse & Grill for barbecue platters or sandwiches, burgers, traditional sides like mac and cheese, green beans, fried corn on the cob, and more—and to show off your bike in the front parking lot.
In Mountain Home, stop by Cooyons off of AR-201 for some Cajun favorites, including étouffée, gumbo, shrimp and grits, and even muffuletta.
