Sedona Motorcycle Rides

Sedona is the perfect destination to take a scenic motorcycle ride. Here are a few Sedona Arizona motorcycle rides to consider:

Red Rock Scenic Byway

Whether you’re spending a day or a week in Sedona, you need to make time for the Red Rock Scenic Byway. This short byway spans just 7.5 miles, making it a quick trip to add to a busy itinerary. However, if you have the time, we recommend giving yourself at least a few hours to experience this beautiful route.

The Red Rock Scenic Byway has received the highest designation from the National Scenic Byways Program: the All-American Road designation. This recognition signifies the byway as a “destination unto itself” due to the beautiful red rockface spanning the route.

You can begin this route on Interstate 17. Take Exit 298 into Sedona to enter State Route 179, heading northwest into the Village of Oak Creek. This village includes two breathtaking vortexes — Bell Rock and Cathedral Rock — that you can stop at and check out up close. You can also visit restaurants, galleries, and other attractions in the Village of Oak Creek before continuing to Sedona.

The Coconino National Forest is another major attraction along the Red Rock Scenic Byway. This forest covers 1.8 million acres surrounding Sedona and Flagstaff. You can easily make a short detour to enter the forest during your Sedona Arizona motorcycle rides.

Even if you decide not to stop along this 7.5-mile route, the breathtaking scenery is enough to make it well worth your while. As you finish the last leg of the trip, you’ll enter Sedona and see the sprawling rock faces before you.

Red Rock Loop Road

Red Rock Loop Road is a fun motorcycle route through Sedona. This loop provides excellent views of Sedona’s red rocks and spans just over 8 miles. It is popular amongst drivers, motorcyclists, hikers, runners, and bicyclists alike, so you’ll want to tread carefully to avoid a collision.

Red Rock Loop Road begins off Highway 89. As you head west on this highway, you’ll see a right turn to enter Upper Red Rock Loop Road. This roadway continues onto Lower Red Rock Loop Road.

Even though this loop is relatively short, it will take you at least an hour to traverse due to the slow speed limit. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in the spectacular red rock sights around you. You can also stop at the following attractions:

  • Cathedral Rock
  • Courthouse Butte
  • Bell Rock
  • Crescent Moon Picnic Area
