Turn left onto Farm Road 2222 and drive along Lake Travis’s north shore. Pass through Jonestown and Lago Vista on RM 1431 to reach Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Park.
Head northwest along the southern edge of Lake Buchanan. Stop in Llano to visit Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que. Turn onto 71 to head southeast and stop at Opie’s BBQ in Spicewood. Finish your ride through Bee Cave and Barton Creek on your way back to Austin, which offers several popular barbecue options.
Luckenbach BBQ Loop

Hutto-Granger-Georgetown Loop
For mixed town and nature riding, try visiting Georgetown from Hutto by way of Granger. Start in Hutto and head south on 1660 to Highway 95 N. If you want an extension for a delicious Texas sausage lunch, take a detour to Elgin (16 miles south from Taylor on 95) to visit Southside Market or Meyers Smokehouse.
Head north from Taylor to Circleville. Turn right onto 1331, then left on Granger Dam Rd. Ride over the dam to look out over Granger Lake, formed by the San Gabriel River.
Take 971 west toward Granger, then circle south on Hwy 95 to TX 29 and complete your trip to Georgetown. The 60-mile route offers several scenic overlooks and parks to stop for a picnic or to take a few photos and stretch your legs.
Killeen to Burnet Backroads
From Killeen, head south on Route 195. Turn right onto 2670, then turn right where it dead ends into 2657. About two miles later, turn left at 963 for Oakalla, and ride through Watson to Burnet. For a longer ride, continue past Burnet to Fredericksburg or Marble Falls.
The route offers stunning views of the Texas Hill Country, with several different corner types and good quality roads that make riding fun for riders of all skill levels.
