California is a hot destination for motorcycle riders from across the country, and the scenic backdrop and sprawling landscapes of NorCal are some of the best for riding. If you are planning a California road trip, then you need to check out this list of some fun and exciting NorCal motorcycle events.

1. Thunder Roads Bikes Night

NorCal-based biker magazine Thunder Roads hosts its weekly NorCal motorcycle events (bike nights) in Sacramento, where bikers can get together and make friends and share riding tips. They also host a bike night ride on the first Thursday of each month and a biker social event on the 2nd Friday of every month. There is also a monthly open house meeting out in Auburn that is open to all bikers and bike brands. 

2. Annual NorCal Chopper Show

The Annual NorCal Chopper Show takes place in Stockton and is currently in its third year. The show features custom and classic choppers from the most famous brands, as well as a selection of performance showcases. The NorCal Chopper Show also features live music, vendors, and much more. 

3. NorCal Cycle Swap Meet

The NorCal Cycle Swap Meet is a regular meeting in Sacramento where vendors and enthusiasts can buy, trade, and sell motorcycles, accessories, and parts. The swap meet charges a $10 entry fee and allows all types of motorcycles and brands, including vintage and off-road selections. Vendors get access on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make sure you arrive early if you plan on selling. 

Motorcycle Event Tips

Motorcycle events and rallies are a ton of fun, but you need to be careful and prepare accordingly to have the best time. Below are some tips for motorcycle events from the motorcycle attorneys at Law Tigers. 

• Ride defensively. Rallies and events are for fun and a good time, but that doesn’t mean some people don’t ride aggressively. Be extra attentive to other riders and give them as wide a berth as you can. 
• Wear for the event. Weather in NorCal is usually temperate, but it can get cold on the road. Wear layers and bring a spare jacket or two in case it gets cold. 
• Plan for the weather. If the weather doesn’t look good, you might want to stay away from things like large scale riding events. 
• Get a tune up. If you’ll be riding in a rally, get a quick maintenance tune up beforehand. You don’t want to have problems in the middle or riding with a group. 
• Bring cash. If the event takes place in a smaller town, vendors might not accept credit card payments. Also, cash is good if you have an emergency and your cards aren’t working.
