Todd Kernal
Attorney
Todd was born in Alaska and lived there until he moved to New Mexico just before high school. In Alaska he rode anything he could get his hands on. It did not matter if it had wheels or skis. The move to New Mexico was a culture shock and put an end to his snowmobile riding.
His first motorcycle was a 1969 Suzuki T90. The money Todd made from an after-school job at a furniture upholstery shop kept the T90 road-worthy. Eventually, the T90 was put out to pasture for a long deserved retirement. Todd then moved on to other, bigger bikes, but his love of riding was kindled by this first motorcycle.
Todd eventually attended New Mexico State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy in 1993. While there, Todd played rugby for the NMSU Chiles and served as president and head coach for the team. An oil field accident left him with injuries which gave Todd a unique perspective on injured clients. He has experienced life changing events like this, and it allows him to communicate with his clients in a direct, understandable way.
He graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1997 from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Law. He and has been in private practice since. Todd is a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
Todd has focused on criminal defense and personal injury law during his career. In his criminal defense practice, Todd has represented countless motorcycle riders accused of crimes the car driving motoring public would not be charged with. This is a result of law enforcement and prosecutors being unaware of the safety rules and issues motorcyclists follow to keep themselves and the other riders and drivers safely on the road. Todd feels it is especially important to educated members of the legal community on the safety rules and issues that all responsible motorcyclists follow.
In his personal injury practice, Todd has seen first-hand the life changing injuries and disabilities motorcyclists suffer due the ignorance and negligence of other drivers. Todd has made it his mission to get the maximum recovery for downed riders and their families. The vast majority of his motorcycle riding clients were operating in a safe and proper manner when they were injured through the negligence of an automobile driver. Todd puts his knowledge and experience of being a motorcycle enthusiast and a 25-year legal career to work for his clients. Todd hopes you never need his talents, but if you do, he is here for you.
