San Diego really has everything when it comes to planning a scenic motorcycle ride. You’ll be able to ride through the deserts, the mountains, and along the Pacific Ocean, sometimes all in the same ride! Here are ten of the most scenic motorcycle routes for rides in San Diego and San Diego County:
- The Sunrise Highway, 34 miles over the Laguna Mountains.
- Highway 94, 63 miles from downtown San Diego, riding along the Mexican border. Get ready to see a lot of poppy flowers!
- Palomar Grade Road, 19 miles, including a section of the Cleveland National Forest.
- Montezuma Valley Road, a short 14-mile ride from Ranchita to Borrega Springs.
- California 75, 13 miles from Cesar Chavez Park over the Coronado Bridge across San Diego Bay.
- Old Highway 80, 176 miles. Check out the Wisteria Candy Cottage while you’re there.
- Lyons Valley Road, 30 miles of mountains and desert.
- Hellhole Palms Loop, 50 miles through the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
- Palomar Mountain Loop, almost 48 miles on one of the curviest roads in the entire country.
- Highway 101, the Pacific Coast Highway, with beautiful ocean views and a popular bar called “The Kraken.”
